Barbara was a nominee for Chatelaine’s Women of the Year 2011 Entrepreneur award and recipient of the Women Innovators Award from the US State Department.

Close to 100 guests plus  exhibitors came out to participate in two informative and interactive workshops featuring representation from our funding partners, the Ministry of Aboriginal Affairs and our keynote speaker Jeremiah Windego. Many new and exciting business ideas were discussed and the Northwest Business Centre is looking forward to navigating those business entrepreneurs through the process to launch their dreams.

2011 has been a successful year for the Northwest Business Centre and many of our clients saw their dreams of business ownership become reality. We bid goodbye to our colleague Mike Greaves and hello to our new team leader Diane Schwartz-Williams. We foresee more dreams of business ownership coming true in 2012 and other businesses expanding. Diane brings a wealth of Small Business experience through managing her own company and  providing small business advisory and bookkeeping services, events management and marketing. Diane majored in Economics and minored in Statistics and has also been a manager at The Bay – skill sets that will benefit entrepreneurs with business start up,  human resource management, taxation, merchandising and purchasing. Diane has exceptional organizational skills and a reputation for giving 110% to everything she does. The Northwest Business Centre is thrilled to welcome Diane as she steps into her new role November 28th.
