Story About NWBC

The Northwest Business Centre (NWBC) is the most northerly of the over 50 Small Business Enterprise Centre’s in the Province of Ontario. Located in Kenora, this SBEC offers programs and services to entrepreneurs of all ages and stages across the two districts of Kenora and Rainy River. It serves as a resource with a mandate to empower entrepreneurs. The NWBC provides high quality assistance and support and has played a key role in the creation of new businesses, expansion of existing businesses and the creation of new jobs – contributing to the economic growth of the district. Services provided include free and confidential support in the development of business plans, business start-ups, product development, government, taxation and financial direction, seminars, resource materials, mentoring and networking.

The NWBC is funded by the government of Ontario and City of Kenora.

About Allyson

Allyson is the Manager of the Northwest Business Centre (NWBC), the Small Business Enterprise Centre that offers small business services across the Kenora and Rainy River Districts. She has been in the role for eight years and is always looking for new ways to assist businesses in the region.  She is based out of Kenora and travels around the districts (virtually these days) to offer workshops, business counselling and works with people who are interested in entrepreneurship. She has a business degree from Mount Royal University and is passionate about helping small businesses. She sits as a co-chair on the Northwest Training and Adjustment Board (NTAB), the Regional Economic Development Group and Chairs the Services Sector Working Group in Kenora. In her free time, Allyson spends time on Lake of the Woods, loves hiking and spending time with her miniature dachshund Annie!
